The air entry is at height where it is coolest and less dusty, the safari snorkel protects the engine against absorption of water when crossing a ford, without risking drowning it.

The 4x4 safari snorkel head can be directed either forwards or backwards. In the front position, a large part of the rainwater is still discharged onto the rear of the snorkel from where it escapes.

The air filter gets dirty less quickly, but nothing beats a cyclonic pre-filter to ensure good separation of air, dust and water.
